We are 13th Best!!

St Albans has yet another claim to fame, not content with being the ‘new Mayfair’ on the Monopoly board it appears that my home town is 13th on the list of the best places to live in the UK. Presumably this is bad news for any residents suffering from Triskaidekaphobia. However, since the number 13 goes into 999,999 exactly 76,923 times, it seems reasonable to assume that this is the amount of cars passing through during rush hour. Or, so it seems whenever I venture forth. On a historical note, 13 is also relevant to St Albans, a famous Roman town, as it was Legio XIII Gemina (the 13th legion) with which Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon that fateful day in 49 BC. The number 13 has personal relevance as it was day 13 that baby got his first cold. One of many since birth.
Hurrah!!! for being 13th best, exactly the median of the number of children in a class at any of our prestigious schools.
