My work colleagues have become convinced that I’ve got too much free time on my hands. This is for a combination of reasons: I tend to provide home cooked meals for my family- most notably home made chips. I sometimes manage to watch Eastenders and finally, I actually went to see the new Indiana Jones movie at the weekend. I have tried to convince them otherwise, that in fact, I’m in so much of a spin most of the time my eyes cant see straight. But they remain unconvinced.
Anyway, as a proper archaeologist it was my duty to see Indiana Jones. It’s always useful to see what others are doing in their work and to get some tips for fighting off anyone who might decide to steal the latest potsherd I find down some hole in Hertfordshire. In fact, if it was a proper Indie movie I would be tempted to claim it as time in lieu. So, what did I think? Well, it was an enjoyable film in itself with lots of action, but it wasn’t really about anything ancient or archaeological. So, in that sense it was a bit of a disappointment. However, I did enjoy it, although that could be because I haven’t been to the cinema in about two years! Clearly I’ve been far too busy making home made chips.
