Hubby attends a book club in St Albans, I say attends, but in reality he is yet to make his presence felt at a meeting. He has purchased the books and has the intention of going though. So he sort of attends in his head. For this, he must be commended. I’m rubbish, the thought of a book club is a bit much for me. Being required to read something that is prescribed, when A) I have no time and B) there are so many fabulous books in the world to take my pick from, having someone else chose for me has always put me off. I'm opinionated, everyone else is wrong. I might as well remain in my own book world.
However, thanks to various people I'm trying to be a bit more open minded about things and take advantage of opportunities as they arise. This week an email popped into the box, since they are few and far between, this was a major event! Would I like to join the Telegraph.co.uk's book club? Ok, why not, I can find time to read, it’s for the blog, a good excuse. The book in question is the sequel to Alexander McCall Smith’s online novel Corduroy Mansion’s, The Dog Who Came In From The Cold.
According to the press release;

Just read on her blog that A Modern Mother is doing this too (should I have left out the 'A' then to make it more grammatically correct?). I've been a member of an online book club for nearly a year now although it's on a break at the moment and I haven't heard when it's starting up again. It's made me read a lot of things I wouldn't normally have considered. Some have been great, others have been more of a struggle. The only problem with this Telegraph one is that it's online and I like to read a book in bed (and fall asleep while doing so). I might give it a go, only got 20 pages of Time Traveler's Wife left so need something new to read.
Hope you enjoy it, may have to have a look, I think book clubs can be great at introducing you to stuff you wouldn't ordinarily look at or a pain putting pressure on already precious time, will look forward to finding out how you get on.!
I am looking forward to your reviews - as I said before, I admire you for the talent to describe any kind of product interestingly and detailed. Plus, I love your writing. So I am having high hopes to get a few great recommendations. The last three books I read were either interestingly written, but the story a bit on the shallow side, or the other way round.

Joined a book club some years back... and in fact have enjoyed it... reading books I would never otherwise have read. How I find the time is still mystery to me. And to Husband. Who would like me to stop reading in bed. Oh. Right. Not. Usually.
