Full. Of. Germs.

I don’t think that one day goes past when someone in this house doesn’t have a lurgy. Talking to parents outside pre-school, it seems that some of them, dare I say generally the ones that are at home anyhow, send their little ones in with really bad lurgy. This is very frustrating, I don’t mean general colds, I mean horrible Swine Flu type things, Chest Infections, the Pox and so on.

Recent comments include:

” Oh, yes he was up all night with a temperature but I thought I’d send him..”

“He’s been so ill that his eczema is so bad that he is bleeding behind his knees, I don’t know what to do about this, so I have left it, just change his trousers a few times…”

For goodness sake! Have these people not heard of the doctors, the pharmacy and thought that maybe their kids need to stay at home and rest for a day or so. Aside from consideration to other people. I can only assume it is their technique for hardening up their children for a life of crime/ a job in the city.

One of my biggest gripes is people intentionally spreading germs – have a day at home and recover and don't infect the rest of us

Award for you over at mine

Hmm, this is a really difficult one. I am a SAHM and yes my two can be full of germs but still want to go to school or preschool. I have to make a decision based on my knowledge of them as my children. I would never sent them if I thought they were really ill though.

Sometimes a runny nose or a cough can linger and I will send them.

I would never put others at risk, would

I will admit to having sent the boy to school with a sniffle or a cough, but that's as far as it goes. D&V or having been up all night ill is a good enough excuse for a day off if you ask me.

That said, if it's me it's a case of dose myself up and head in to work. The aircon there was probably the one that gave it to me in the first place!

When my older daughter was younger she had nits and I kept her home from school ( contagious but in a different way), until I realised that keeping her off wouldn't do any good as she would catch them again from another offender, so I just treated her and sent her back to school with no "live" critters in her hair. Since then I have treated colds the same. If it's just a cold,

I send S if he still wants to go to school and hasn't been sick or had a temperature. Otherwise he'd constantly be at home! x

i can totally sympathise – I ended up getting very angry with the day nursery my smallest attended once a week as she was always picking up horrible bugs from the children who were brought in despite being obviously unwell 🙁 It isn't fair on the staff to have to deal with it as well!

Haha. Loved your mention of life of crime/job in the city in one sentence. Yip, have to admit that there were some similarities.
