Review; Ju-Ju-Be Change Bags

2nd August 2010 5 Comments

I’m a hardened soul, but oh my gosh, my heart skipped a beat when this change bag arrived for me to review. It is a thing of beauty, the change bag that I have been searching the web and every baby shop i’ve come across for the past three years. I can’t tell you how pleased I am with it, it does exactly what I wanted, there are loads of different pockets and compartments, it has lovely floral fabric lining and best of all it doesn’t look like a change bag. I admit, I’m in that phase where I am sort of flashing the bag around at mother and baby events in an attempt to solicit compliments. Yes, I’m that sad, but it’s not often I have something that I am really proud of.

Ju-Ju-Be are an American brand that appear to have cornered the market in really well designed change bags that don’t actually look like change bags. The bag is made from Earth Leather which is according to them an environmentally friendly alternative to leather which is machine washable. Perhaps best of all, the linings are antimicrobial (I wish all bags had this!) it means that you don’t get mold, mildew, bacteria and all the horrible stuff which makes your bag stinky after the juice has leaked for the hundreth time. For each bag they sell there is a donation to breast cancer initiatives.

I’ve been using the Ju-Ju-Be Behave bag for a few weeks now, and it hasn’t lost is appeal. I love it, yes, i’ve had loads of compliments. I’m on campaign to try not to be a frumpy mummy and this is a powerful ally in my cause. It has so many internal pockets and compartments that I am using it as my main bag. For me, this means it has all my work stuff and all the baby change stuff in it. Truly fabulous! Even the lining is nice (see above). The only stumbling block is the price, at £120 this isn’t going to be within the reach of everybody. However, if the husband/ boyfriend wants to get you a gift or you fancy splashing out and treating yourself then is without a shadow of a doubt the bag for you. I would particularly like to point it out to the husband of my very stylish blogging friend Deborah, whom I think would absolutely love it. You can get hold of one here.

things have come a long way in the last decade apparently.

when I needed one it was drunken elephants, gurning giraffes or sinister koala or nothing.

all in the most offensive pastel shades you could imagine.

You'd have thought that Milan at least would have given one a more sophisticated option, but oh noooooooo…. saccharine creatures and painful colours

I desperately need a new handbag / change bag and saw you post and got very excited. The bag looks great, shame the price tag is a tad out of reach. Thanks for the post, Will have to keep my eyes open for an alternative.

OH that is a very pretty bag – I really don't like the bags that shout that they're a mummy bag

And I guess if you think of the cost per use, if you used that everyday for a year it'd be less than 50p a day…
