Review: Melissa and Doug Deluxe Easel from Wooden Toyshop.co.uk

WoodenToyshop.co.uk contacted us and asked if we would like to select something to review. I was very pleased, they are a lovely online store which I am very glad to have discovered. A veritable feast of wonderful traditional and some not so traditional toys. Far, far to tempting for the likes of me. Anyway, I finally decided upon the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Easel, not least because an easel is something that I have been considering buying the kids for a while.

The easel arrived really promptly and I set about building it. It was simple to put together, although it did take me about 40 minutes, mainly as I was assisted by a two year old who kept putting screws in the wrong holes. Just to test me. What is so good about the Melissa and Doug Deluxe Easel? Firstly, it has three different height settings which means that it can grow with your child. The lowest setting is perfect for our two year old and four year old. Secondly it is simply far tidier than a table with paper and crayons. The kids seem to really enjoy using it and we have been having 'letter and sound' school lessons using the white board. For us this is brilliant as I find it very hard to encourage Boy to make meaningful marks.

The easel is big and you do need a bit of space, but it can fold flat which means you don't get the width, just the height when you need to pack it away. Its very well made, bright and colourful, good quality and solid. I must say, I am exceptionally pleased with it, there is just no comparison to the Ikea equivalent, this is far superior.

Little Fifi loves the chalk board and I just need to get a chalk board rubber for that as one wasn't included. Boy likes the way he has a lot of space to draw. The only problem is that he can get through a roll of paper quite easily (the paper is rather excellently held within the easel).

I'm very pleased with it. My next purchase from the site will probably be this sandpit which seems very reasonably priced, but for the moment I am banning myself from looking as there is just far to much that I could be tempted with. Find the WoodenToyshop.co.uk here.
