We spend a lot of our weekends making the most of central London. The kids love wandering about, I’m a born Londoner and really love the buzz of London and I think they get it. This weekend we were invited to the opening of the new Disney Winnie the Pooh themed playroom at the Athenaeum Hotel, which is in Picadilly not so far from Buckingham Palace. I love checking out these places, not so I can stay there, but so I know where to take tea for special treats. Its always lovely having a good nose around these old buildings and the Athenaeum is no exception with a series of apartments as well as hotel rooms which are beautifully decorated and furnished.
The Athenaeum actually won child friendly hotel of the year too. It has its own children’s concierge and even nannies who will look after the kids in the Winnie the Pooh themed playroom whilst you enjoy yourself in the West End. I don’t think you could ask for much more. Now, this sort of thing doesn’t come cheap with the apartment starting at £300 rising to £800 peak season, but actually I think for what is offered and the location, it is fairly reasonable.
The playroom in the Athenaeum is filled with Winnie the Pooh toys and it gave the kids a really good chance to play with a range of them, the best ones were:
The Winnie the Pooh room at the Athenaeum will run for the whole summer, so if you’re planning a trip overnight to London, it’s well worth considering.
