Review: Barefoot Books World Atlas by Nick Crane and David Dean

One of the essential book purchases for any child is a world atlas, yet it is exceptionally hard to find one which meets all the criteria. The Barefoot Books World Atlas  meets all my criteria, most notably in that it is a beautiful book which captures the imagination of adults and children.I have enjoyed reading it as much as the kids have liked looking through it with me

My children had to be very carefully supervised with this book, but then its always best to read an atlas with them. We loved exploring the maps, talking about the different countries and using the brilliant illustrations by David Dean as a starting point for discussing things. At under fifteen pounds (depending where you buy it) I think its a great price and really good quality. A perfect gift for a child.

Barefoot books have their own blog and you can find out all about the launch of the atlas here. It’s worth keeping an eye on their site as they often have some brilliant events in their store in Oxford. I think they make some lovely books and I have my eye on a few for Christmas for my kids. You can buy the atlas here and have a look at some of the other wonderful tiles they produce.

Thanks for the recommendation. My little ones love maps at the moment and I was hoping to find one for Xmas for them and this looks great.
