One of the things which worried me about having three children was how I would deal with their conflicting demands 24/7. As its half term this week I was given the opportunity to find out. Instead of staying at home worrying about how to entertain them all I decided to plan in advance and booked something to do every day of the week, so we have been to the library, a craft activity at a local museum, soft play, the zoo and perhaps my most impressive moment- the cinema.
Our local cinema does the Lego Kids AM screenings everyday during school holidays as well as at the weekends. They are really popular because its just £1:50 a ticket to see some great kids films. I thought I’d risk it and take them all on my own as I figured that the worst that could happen would mean that we would have to leave and I didn’t really commit a massive amount of cash.
However, it all went really smoothly, I put the baby into the baby sling and he stayed asleep the majority of the time (although I did feel obliged to cover his ears because it was louder than I anticipated). Fifi and Boy demanded to go to the toilet twice, well, Boy did Fifi refused to go at those moments and waited until 5 minutes before the end of the film to say she was desperate. I was prepared though and quickly put her into a nappy, thus solving that issue. Everyone left happy and content.
To be honest, this will probably sound stupid when I read it back in five years, but I have to say that this trip to the cinema has to be one of my biggest parenting achievements. I was worried how I would cope, but I did cope and I left feeling like Supermum. In fact, I’m rather proud of how swimmingly the entire half term break has gone so far. There have been very few arguments and the children have gone to bed exhausted and content. Tears have been few and far between. It’s just me that needs a holiday!
