Last week we took the kids to Butlins in Bognor Regis, my hubby is part of their ambassador programme so we were gifted the break which was ace because in all honestly I don’t think we would have been able to afford it at the moment.
Butlins was established with the aim of providing a great weeks holiday for a weeks salary, it’s not like that anymore unless most people earn considerably more than I used to. It’s a brilliant 4 days holiday for the equivalent of 2 weeks of my old salary. Still, I can say that you will never need to eat again as the food if you opt for dinner, bed and breakfast will fill you up from the tips of your toes to the hair on you head. Yummy food it is too, we dined at the new Deck restaurant and the kids were in their element as they have a special height buffet bar for the kids so they can help themselves. Little Ned discovered a love of croissants which is proving hard to break as he demands them now and seems to want to eat little else.
Of course, Butlins isn’t really for adults at all, it’s a kids holiday and my children were all in their element. Little Ned enjoyed the baby play area, Fifi and Boy loved the soft play, the rides and found an addiction to 2p machines which we did our best to discourage. We watched Angelina Ballerina, Fireman Sam and many more kids shows and we also saw the most amazing Brazilian Circus troop. The kids all did a lot of swimming, little Ned had me going backwards and forwards as he kicked his legs and shrieked with delight, whilst I tried to deflect an endless stream of admirers from distracting him.
However, without a shadow of doubt for me the highlight was paddling in the sea with Fifi, followed by eating some salty chips whilst sitting on the prom. It was brilliant to see her joy at going in the water. I think this may well be the first holiday that she remembers!
