This year I surprised myself and splashed out and bought an iPad, technology is not really something I’ve ever particularly lusted over, but I really did fancy one of these for myself and for the children to use. I must say I have never regretted it, its proved excellent for reading books and also for the children as there are some really great educational apps available.
Disney UK contacted me to see if we would like to try out their new Disney Fairies app and since we are absolutely HUGE Tinkerbell fans in this house I jumped at the chance. Produced in the UK, “Disney Fairies: Lost & Found” features all seven Disney Fairies from Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming animated feature film, “Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings” and is a beautiful, fun and challenging hidden objects game where players can immerse themselves in the magical world of Pixie Hollow. I handed the iPad over to Fifi and sat with her whilst we had a look around Pixie Hollow.
The general idea with this app is to find a series of things in each different area of Pixie Hollow you do this by touching the things you find on the screen. As shes at the very early stages of reading Fifi needed help to see what she had to find, but she navigated around the screen using her finger and looked really carefully to find things. I think this is actually a really good exercise for memory skills alongside learning how to use the technology.
As you’d expect the game is beautifully animated, slick and smooth its lovely to look at. We like it a lot and its one of our new favourite games. Really rather fabulously Disney UK are donating £1 (more than the cost of the app) to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity for every download of the new ‘Disney Fairies: Lost and Found’ app until Christmas Day. Make a difference this Christmas and download “Disney Fairies: Lost & Found” which is available now for iOS devices for a special promotional price of £0.69 respectively from the App Store at bit.ly/Tvq1V3
