Summer Holiday Activities: Build Sandcastles

One of the absolute best things about our summer holidays has to be the chance to play on the beach and outdo each other with sandcastle building or hole digging. Of course, the holes have to be carefully disguised by picnic blankets and things so as to enable ‘comedy’ falling into them!

A few years ago we went on holiday to Devon and actually stayed at a place called Woolacombe. The reason we went there was because it’s a really good place for surfing. However, it also has a brilliant bay with an impressive sandy beach. It really is perfect for little ones. We’ve since been back a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Especially as there’s also a few nice restaurants in the town if you like seafood!

This year Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks in Devon are running a fab competition where you can win a family stay in one of their holiday parks by taking a photograph of one of your creations. As far as I can see this is a win win situation; the children get a project and some entertainment during a long (hopefully hot) sunny day and you get a little bit of peace and the chance to win a holiday. I know we will be entering for sure! Have a little look at this infographic for all the information on how to enter and some amazing sandcastle facts.

Disclaimer: payment was received to post the infographic, but I genuinely think this is a brilliant competition and will be posting our entries up here for you to see and we do love Woolacombe!

We love building sandcastles, and will try to remember to enter this one. I can't believe how tall the highest ever one was!
