One of the really lovely things about this book is the way that the sounds of each of the instruments is introduced at the start of the book. We spent a really long time going over the sounds and instruments and it was brilliant fun getting each child to pretend to be an instrument as I read the song.
Alice Lickens is one of the five members of the Zombie Collective who have recently done an exhibition for the Hayward Gallery and Somerset House, she also works at Quentin Blake' The House of Illustration. It therefore goes without saying that the illustrations are absolutely brilliant, they are a combination of lino prints and ink and are a real joy to look at.
If you fancy a lovely rhythmical, musical read perfect for the long lazy afternoons that autumn/ winter can bring with a toddler then this is the book for you. I'm sure some of you can picture me and Ned with our maracas having loads and loads of fun with this!
