Book Review: Herman’s Letter by Tom Percival

7th September 2013 No Comments

Herman’s Letter is one of those fab little picture books which features actual lift the flap letters and as such it is rapidly becoming one of Fifi’s (aged 4) favourite reads. The story is one of friendship and keeping in touch when your best friend moves away. This alone makes it quite a valuable addition to the bookshelf.

We loved the illustrations Fifi liked Henry a raccoon who looks a bit like a superhero and teddy obsessed Ned loved Herman, pointing at him and imitating his expressions. The idea of posting yourself also sparked off some interesting conversations. I suspect that next time a large box arrives we might be ‘posting’ children!
Bloomsbury the publishers seem to really know how to make a good children’s book, they always pick the perfect paper for the topic and this makes such a difference. Herman’s Letter, has been simply a joy to read with our little gang and I’d like to think your children would enjoy it as much.
