Competition and Book Review: Animal Noises and Animal Opposites by Nicola Killen

8th September 2013 9 Comments

There is nothing nicer than a children’s book with illustrations which you would quite happily have up on your wall and Nicola Killen always comes up with the most beautiful little books. These books are aimed at 2 + preschool age group although as they are board books you can quite happily let a younger child have a look with you.

Ned was particularly delighted with the flaps which he opened to reveal the animals making the noise in the Animal Noises book. However, both books are equally as good and he really enjoys looking through them. Partly because I think the animals are not too scary but quite sort of whimsy. The language used is simple and gentle and easy for little ones to understand. This makes for careful quiet reading rather than a frantic dash through the books, something I’m really starting to enjoy as it encourages Ned to look carefully and think about what the book is about.

These are simply beautiful little books and would make a perfect gift for any little ones in your life.

Readers of Being a Mummy have been offered the chance to win an entire set of Nicola Killen’s board books covering the topics: Opposites, Noises, Colours and Numbers. If you’d like to enter all you need to do is leave me a comment telling me all about your favourite children’s book. The competition closes at midday on 22nd September 2013
