Get Fit with Netflix

4th February 2014 No Comments

I’m rather excited to be part of the Netflix Stream Team, this is a team of bloggers who get to try out all the best aspects of Netflix and then highlight them to readers. I do hope you enjoy my posts. For me, this is great because I hardly ever get to watch television as a busy mum and its a brilliant excuse to bring myself right up to date with all those shows which people are talking about!

This month we were treated to a workout with celebrity personal trainer Niki Wibrow. When I was asked to come along and meet Niki I didnt realise that I’d actually get to do a workout with her. However, that is exactly what happened, me wearing my jeans and keeping it real. Lets face it, you don’t get changed into fitness gear to do a home workout, do you?

Netflix have realised that exercising in front of the television is a great way to multitask, it takes away all the boredom. Recently I’ve discovered Breaking Bad, as I say, I’m not a great television viewer so I hadn’t even heard of it until a few people recommended it. Since Netflix have the entire box set, rather than sit and watch it like a couch potato I’ve decided to watch it doing the exercises Niki showed me.

I must admit after meeting Niki I felt really motivated to take on board her exercises and give it a real go, so for the past week I’ve been feeling rather virtuous about watching the television and exercising which is unheard of as I don’t feel like I’m wasting time and being unproductive. I must say, Breaking Bad is one of the best things I’ve watched in a long time, its compelling viewing and I love the dark humour. I can highly recommend it.

So, I hear you ask, what exercises are you actually doing? Well,  you can watch Niki Wibrow demonstrate them all via these links, also scroll down to see an impromptu interview I did with her!

1. Warm-ups – Cardio, Boxing Combos and Yoga Swings
2. Legs – Skaters, Spider Squats and Plies
3. Arms – Dolphin, Walking Planks and Tricep Dips
4. Core – Toe Taps, Twisting Planks and Seated Abs
5. Back – Lying Superman, Standing Stars and Kneeling Superman

After the workout I had the chance to have an impromptu chat with Niki, she is a very inspirational mum and personal trainer, I came away feeling very motivated. Have a look here:

If you are wondering where to start, well why not base your workout around one of these suggestions. Far better than going to the gym after the school run in my opinion!

Beginner – Approx 20 – 25 minutes

Intermediate – Approx 30 – 40 minutes

Advanced – Approx – 50 – 60 minutes
