Book Review: Zoe and Beans; Hello Ladybird! and We’re Not Scared by Chloe Inkpen and Mick Inkpen

Little Ned is the proud owner of a number of board books, many inherited from his siblings so its always nice when we get sent some to have a look at with him. He is far more interested in books than his siblings were at 2 years of age and I’ve noticed that illustrations where we can spot things and talk about them are by far his favourite books. Hence Hello Ladybird is now his favourite book!

In Hello Ladybird! Zoe and her dog Beans have found a ladybird and they lose it and have to look for it finding other things along the way. As part of the book you need to find a ladybird on each page. Suffice to say we have had some very happy times with little Ned looking for ladybirds and discussing the other things in the illustrations. Just lovely!

We’re Not Scared! Introduces little Evie who is Zoe and Beans friend Oscars new little sister, its a gentle exploration of the things which people are scared of and is a lovely enjoyable story.

We really do enjoy the Zoe and Beans books in our household, they seem to appeal to all three children (aged 2- nearly7) which makes for an easy bedtime reading session. The illustrations are lovely and the stories fairly simple with easy to identify themes which appeal and inspire all the children and always lead to heated debates.

If you want to find out more and get hold of some fab activities related to the books make sure you head on over to the Zoe and Beans website and like the Facebook page which is run by creator Chloe Inkpen. You’ll also find the links to buy the books on these pages.
