Book Review: Max the Brave Written and Illustrated by Ed Vere

27th May 2014 No Comments

Sometimes books are just meant for bedtime reading and Max the Brave is one such book. Its beautifully illustrated by the author of Banana! and Fingers Mcgraw and is one of those books which you look at and think each individual page would look rather lovely framed.

This is one of those books which is so useful for imparting a bit of wisdom to children, Max is a cat trying to hunt down a mouse, but he doesn’t know what a mouse actually is. That doesn’t stop him though! My children thought it most amusing and we have had some delightful conversations whilst reading this book, especially with the 2 and a half year old (going on 18) who you can tell is clearly enlightened by the subtle message in this story. I do hope there are going to be more Max books as I think its a children’s classic character in the making.
If you like good quality books, both in terms of paper and production as well as artwork and story you can’t really go wrong with this one, its a perfect package. You can find out more here on the Puffin book website
