Book Review: Florentine and Pig and the Spooky Forest Adventure by Eva Katzler illustrated by Jess Mikhail

The added bonus of the Florentine and Pig books are the recipes, they are brilliant kid friendly creations. However, to be honest the stories and the illustrations hold their own perfectly well without them and these are just lovely books to enjoy with your children.

Eva Katzler has a really lovely way with language and the stories she creates are always quite magical. My five year old girl loves them in particular, especially as she enjoys having a go at cooking some of the recipes with me.

The distinctive style of Jess Mikhail’s beautiful illustrations mean that there is lots to look at on every page and my two year old can enjoy the stories as much as the older children. We’ve grown to love pig and his expressions as much as the other pig you can also see on the television. It would be lovely if these stories were turned into television programmes!

In this story Florentine and Pig are on a monster catching adventure and doing a bit of camping. Its perfect for my little team as they are experienced themselves on just such an adventure. I’m hoping this book will help them plan a bit for this summers adventures and I’m looking forward to some lovely meals produced with them.

Yet again, this is a book which I cant fault. My children loved it, there were some new recipe ideas for us to try and its simply bursting with inspiration. If you haven’t come across the  Florentine and Pig stories before make sure you check them out, they might just save your summer holidays!
