Book Review: My Little Star by Mark Sperring illustrated by Nicola O’Byrne

There have been mixed feeling about this book in our house. Myself and Fifi loved it, we liked the gentle rhythm which was perfect for a cosy bedtime snuggle together. There is a beautiful message behind this book and this is perfectly matched with the loveliest illustrations. I really did enjoy reading it with Fifi and I think its going to become one of those special books which we share time and time again.

On the other hand, the seven year old and Ned (2) both boys tell me that they found the book a bit boring. I think it was too gentle for them. Lets disregard that view generally, because its unfair. But bear in mind that if you have little boys with over active imaginations who quite simply don’t want to sit down and snuggle and be calm then this might not be the best book for you.

As I say, I loved reading this book with Fifi and I’m looking forward to sharing lots more special memories with her, she is my little star.
