Book Review: Stormy Night by Salina Yoon

Yet again Salina Yoon has come up with a delightful picture book which tackles an issue which many of her readers will worry about. We particularly like her Penguin series of books and so it makes a nice change to read about Bear and Floppy (who remind me very much of my eldest and his toy bunny).

In this story Bear gets a bit frightened in a thunder storm and he helps his mum and dad to overcome being scared. Its a very subtle way of encouraging children to find ways to deal with scary noises at night and of course thunder! The artwork is as ever, beautiful distinctive and perfectly suited to toddlers and the story perfectly pitched.

My littlest (3) really took to this story and its one which he is more than happy to sit and look at alone, making the story up in his own words. I think he likes the familiarity of the style of artwork which is clearly appealing to him.

This is a lovely book and would make a great addition to the bookshelf. You can find out more about the book here.
