the wolf who fell out of a bookThis charming book tells the story of wolf who in his own story book world is fearsome and scary, but when he drops out of the book becomes something entirely different. To escape the resident cat he slips into other books and finds himself in unfamiliar and tricky situations. My six year old particularly liked the character of the cat who looks really quite amusingly and charmingly cat like in the way it is drawn.

We enjoyed reading this book, the illustrations are great and my eldest child was quite inspired by the style. Its a simple enough story for the 3 year old to understand, yet my eight year old found it inspirational as he liked the concept of different story book characters meeting. This coupled with the quality book production makes it a winner.

This book is actually very useful as it clearly draws on themes of belonging and dealing with the unexpected in a way that subtly conveys ways of dealing with them to children. Another useful addition to the bookshelf as its a good story for little children but also can provide a bit of a springboard for dealing with those tricky conversations about belonging for slightly older children.
