You can’t go wrong with a Claire Freedman book, if the name sounds familiar its because she’s the author of the best selling Aliens Love Underpants series. A master of lyrical yet simple reads.
This particular book really appealed to my four year old who likes nothing more than trains and cars and diggers. This book indulged his love of building machines and provided us with a lot of different things to look at and talk about thanks to Richard Smythe’s wonderful colourful illustrations.
I have to say, for the four year old it made a nice change from the Thomas the Tank Engine books which he demands to read as ‘just another story’ for bedtime. The fact that the machines are all getting ready for night time was also rather handy.
If you have a little construction fan and you’re looking for the perfect bedtime read to help them wind down gently then this is a great book. You can find out more here.
