Book Review: Squirrel Me Timbers by Louise Pigott

30th March 2016 No Comments

squirrel me timbersSquirrel Me Timbers wins this years prize (so far) for the best usage of rhyming text and puns in one picture book. I found it an incredibly amusing read and myself and the four year old had a really lovely afternoon reading the book, acting out parts of it and talking about the rhyming words. Sammy Squirrel, the pirate is just the most amusing concept and as a character he really does work.

This is the author Louise Pigott’s first children’s picture book and I think she has really done herself proud here with fun illustrations and a witty story. A walk in the woods will never be the same again!

This is a lovely little book which I’d recommend and I think it would make a fab gift for a toddler alongside a pirate hat and cutlass!
