The Usborne Farmyard Tales are a delightful series of books all based around the characters of Poppy and Sam. The books are interactive and playful with illustrations of animals and the noises they make (or sometimes the noises themselves) and often either noise buttons or feely areas and flaps to lift up.

We loved the bright colourful illustrations and the rural feel of these books. They’ll appeal to pre-schoolers who enjoy learning about animals and playing with their toy farms.

The books are really robust and hard wearing so a great investment. I could see a lot of spin off activities that you could do at home around the books. For example re-enacting the scenes with a toy farm, drawing the animals or talking about different farm animals and where food comes in.

Again, top marks from us. You’ll be hard pressed to find a bookshelf in the UK without a few Usborne books on it and these will be another welcome addition! You can find out more about this series here.
