Book Review: The Great Granny Gang by Judith Kerr

26th April 2013 No Comments

I’m a life-long fan of Judith Kerr’s books as I remember reading her Mog books when I was a child. The Great Granny Gang is her latest book and brings things bang up to date talking about ‘hoods’. I was a little bit thrown by this I have to admit, but the idea of a granny gang was so amusing and such a brilliant idea that it sort of counter-balanced my cringing at having to read about ‘hoods’. Which I find an odd turn of phrase.

As you’d expect with a Judith Kerr book my  4 year old thought it was hilarious, especially the idea of a granny with a drill and a crocodile. We also decided that we would have been tempted to steal those delicious looking cakes.

This is a great book for children with a brilliant message about old age pensioners; you might be a granny and 82 but you can still do everything.

Lovely illustrations, the cutest cat EVER. We loved the rhyme, its becoming increasingly difficult to find new children’s books which are really well written and that makes this book stand above the crowd. All in all, another classic book. You’ll find all the details here at HarperCollins Children’s Books.
